Like all of us, I am having a difficult time dealing with Jesse's death. We all sign up for the risk
knowing we could be killed while racing so when it doesn't happen that way it makes no sense.
Jesse was a fierce competitor. If you
went to a race and Jesse was there you knew before the end of the night you would have to deal with Jesse
Hockett. Many things made Jesse special, his approachable personality, his drive to win, and his knowledge of
the cars. You could tell Jesse, "this is what I think we should do" and Jesse would tell you,
"Yah well, if you want to win you'll do this." Jesse would never quit. He would make time for
anyone that came up for a interview, autograph, or just to say hi. He would even help you with your car. He
conducted himself in a professional manor at all times. I never heard him say a word that your children
couldn't hear. Everyone loved him and his fan base was coast to coast. It was a privilege to be associated
with a man of this caliber. Any Night, Any Track, Any Car, Jesse Hockett was a True Outlaw.
